nitfy statisticals

I temporarily turned my attention away from this place to watch an itsy bitsy spider climbing up the water spout ... or something ... and when I looked back again I discovered that I've had over 10,000 visits. Wow! If I'd known you were coming I'd have baked a cake (although I'm not sure I could have cut it into so many pieces). Thanks kindly for turning your eyes my way!

Cursor Wednesday

I mentioned on a previous Wednesday how much I enjoyed the opportunity (and often took said opprtunity without asking permission) to engage in cursor random-o-rama. It was, for lack of a better term, a pleasant stream of pixelled consciousness.

(The above cursors are presented at 200% to show detail and to discourage their usage elsewhere. Extracting them from here and employing them someplace else will most certainly result in randomly chosen, yet predictably severe, punishments.)

There once existed a fabulous and far-flung icon-crafting competition by the name of Pixelpalooza. Obviously, I was gung ho about the whole enterprise, driven by the desire to creatively push pixels and possibly snag prizes (and not necessarily in that order). There was, however, a particular year that I found myself having trouble deciding just which subject to approach and iconify for my Pixpaloo entry. That's when fate stepped in and made the decision for me.

Without going into all the gory details, my normally happy indigo iMac one day stared at me with despair on its formally happy face. On, no ... Could it be? Alas, yes. A VIRUS! I didn't know how long it had been there, I never figured out how it got there, but it suddenly made its presence known, and how. Much, oh, so very much data was lost, and even though the good Doctor Norton was able to save the patient, poor lil indigo carried the scars from that day forward.

As you've certainly guessed by now, I chose this unfortunate infectious incident as the subject matter of my icon set. But rather than simply throwing together a pile of virus-ish images I attempted to also tell a story. And as inspiration for telling my story I turned to a rather well-known and well-respected storyteller, ye olde Bard himself.

Unfortunately, neither my pixels nor my tale moved the judges and I neither won, placed, nor showed. Maybe they thought Francis Bacon had actually created the set. Whatever was the case, someone recently made mention of this thing about which I'd forgotten and it seemed to me like something to bring back to the stage for one final engagement. So without further ado ...

Cursor Wednesday

Regardless of whether they're creepy or crawly or ticklish to skin on which they alight, wee little buggies were a popular subject for cursors. Of course, some are less creepy and crawly - yet no less ticklish.

(The above cursors are presented at 200% to show detail and to discourage their usage elsewhere. It would really bug a lot of people were you to be such a pest to use these cursors elsewhere. Be nice, so you don't get swatted.)
