The First Annual Mucho Grande Giving Away of Nineteen Magical Mystery Drawings

The short of it: On July 7 I'll begin doing what the title of today's blog post suggests. Each weekday I'll distribute, completely gratis, an original ink-on-paper artwork. This will go on in an unabated weekday fashion until July 31 when the nineteenth and final drawing is released into the wild.

The long of it: For many years I created most all of my hand-drawn work with the able assistance of a black and beautiful drawing instrument known as the DESIGN Art Marker. Though a few years ago my precious (gollum!) line of markers was discontinued, I continued to enjoy them by employing a stockpile I'd stockpiled. As it must to all men, death came to Charles Foster Kane. And so it also came to my cache of DESIGN Art Markers! Several attempts to locate a substitute failed. Much consternation and many frowns ensued. Eventually, however, I stumbled upon the Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen, and from its brush-like tip shone a black ray of inky hope. I snagged a pad of Strathmore drawing paper (fancy, quality stuff) and proceeded to break in the new pen, orienting myself to its nuances, by filling said fancy, quality pad with art. When I was satisfied with my endeavor (or knew I was as satisfied as I was ever going to be) I pried loose the metal wire which held the papers together leaving the 18 rectangular holes undisturbed at the top of each of the 19 pages. These will be looking for good homes 10 days from now.

Wow. Thanks for mentioning the DESIGN markers. I miss them as well. My question is this: How does one go about being in the pool for receiving one of your drawings? If it weren't obvious before, I would very much like to be in that group.

Oops! I should have offered a bit more detail regarding how I'd be passing out the drawings! On the day a drawing appears, the first person to email me and give the name of the drawing (Which will be provided. You won't have to guess what it is!) will be the proud(?) owner and will have the drawing mailed to her/him within the week.

thank you.

Awesome. Owning one of these is beyond my wildest dreams, sort of. I really like the simplicity of #20. :D Welcome back.

That's great you found another set of markers that will work for you. Finding a replacement tool can sometimes be tough! Welcome back btw!

cool! can't wait till it begins.

I look forward to the contest between the international time difference and my internet addiction at unsociable hours. :)
