to illegibility and beyond

I think I made mention of this once before, but I believe it was so long ago that the mention I made has been safely forgotten. In a book written by him, and amply packed with multitudinous examples of his gorgeously far-out illustrations, Kelly Freas spoke of certain pieces of his artwork of which he was rather proud but which weren't well received by those people who had comissioned them. My typography isn't exactly "art", but I understand Mr. Freas predicament perfectly. Cashless seemed to me to be the first and last word in "the far-flung funky future as naively viewed from the 1970s" alphanumerics. Boy, was I wrong. Cashless got no love whatsoever. Perhaps folk are faster to fall in love with fonts which are a bit easier to read. Philistines!

where were wii?

I thought to myself, "Ain't fanboii just the cleverest thing!" And then I thought to myself, "The feminine alternative seems a little forced, but the 'girly' of fangirlii makes more sense than the 'geerl' of fangiirl." And then I thought to myself, "Since the purpose for which these were created fell through, why not offer them to kind visitors who might happen to be Nintendo enthusiasts, inviting them to download them and use them for any purpose whatsoever, be it personal or commercial?"

And then I got up from the compter to play with my Gamecube.

illegibility

I've long held a fascination with creating practically impenetrable typography. It must be something in the water.
