other people's pictures

I don't feel like talking about me today. Instead, let's discuss a few other artists whose work I admire. Better yet, we'll let their delightful, delicious, delovely art speak for itself! Please visit Tummie-design, Kenneth Jeffer, tribambuka, Phil Noto, Lynne Naylor, and Jonas Bergstrand ... and enjoy!

thankful

I'd like to take this moment to express my sincere thankfulness for the numerous nice people who frequent this humble locale! I may or may not be making an appearance over the extended holiday weekend, so peace and relaxation and happy relations to you all! (And please forgive the re-posting of an image from March. I must have eaten a turkey sandwich that day.)

Cementimental

In response to last week's bookish post, Tim Drage (one half of Spite Your Face Productions and a fellow I've admired for years) dropped a line to let me know that he's published a book on a subject near and dear to my heart: Experimental pixels! Dig it!

LEGO Y-Wing

Joe has a passion for LEGO. And a passion for Star Wars. And a passion for drawing. The small smiling pilot makes me smile, too!

c. 1434/1436

The good people who regularly visit this place do so in order to see my art. Because they do not arrive to read about the mundane minutiae of my life, I'll be sparing them the details of my time away. But I must make mention of one particularly momentous occasion: I saw a Van Eyck! In all my years of slouching in a desk in art history classes, no artist moved me more than this Netherlandish genius. As I approached the painting a shivery sensation ran down my back. As I walked away my legs were unsteady. As the hours passed I pondered whether I should personally pursue my own art any further, but then figured, what the heck, why not!

"encounter and inherit"

Todd Marrone's guerilla art tactics have long fascinated and inspired me. Somebody get me some art supplies, stat!

Joe's robo

Joseph created this automaton just for me, drawn completely from his imagination. It's not based on a toy, or based on a movie, or based on a toy based on a movie. And I think it's awesome!
